DMPS offers a weekly Visual Art and a music lesson with our specialist Arts teacher each week.
The Visual Arts program in the lower primary school years focuses on creating and making. Students are engaged in stimulating activities where they can explore a wide range of media, materials and equipment. All areas are covered; drawing, painting, collage, construction, modelling, printing, threads and textiles.
In the upper primary school years, the art program focuses on creative problem solving, artistic perception and expression and also developing each student’s personal expression and communication.
In Music, student learning covers four strands. These are Explore and Express Ideas, Music Practices, Present and Perform and Respond and Interpret. Students learn skills such as rhythm, beat and timing through activities such as drumming, along with singing and music composition.
